The architectural intervention in Block 44 in New Belgrade represents an innovative approach to the adaptation of the built pools, which were intended for the never-completed aqua park, with the aim of creating a new and dynamic event space. The project focuses on the selection of a certain segment of the space, on which the intervention was carried out on a larger scale. The principle of digging in and breaking through the already existing walls was the initial response to the already existing irregular and curved geometry. The buried structure extends partly onto the open area of the already existing pools, using it as a natural atrium, while the interior has been carefully adapted for the temporary housing of various artists. This structure includes various rooms and activities, including a canteen, a common kitchen, an atrium, a smaller atrium that divides the common area from private rooms, a tribune and a stage for various musical performances. Concrete was chosen as the main lining and filling of the walls, which emphasizes the principle of digging and breaking through, while the floor is cast concrete, which in some segments contains clear hints of changes between different interior zones. Based on the design of one structure, others were designed on the site applying the same principle. This approach emphasizes that such spaces can exist in a larger number and be complementary to each other, adapting to the different needs of users.
