The final part of the Master’s academic studies consists of three sections: Master Thesis, Master Design Project and Master Final Project. The Master Final Project directly uses the previous research results and thus represents a synthesis of the previous phases. Master Thesis is focused on the formulation and research of students’ individual research topics. A focused thematic framework develops necessary skills and knowledge on contemporary architectural research methods, theoretical and research through design methods. Master Thesis represents a continuation of the research at the highest level of complexity within Master academic study that involves an investigation and analysis of all specific aspects of the assignment. Master Design Project represents work with a clearly identifiable research component: research through defining basic research issues through the project, research and development of design methods consistent with the Thesis as analytical and generic studies in space with a transparent evaluation of the concept. The research by design phase results in formulating the design conception and preparation for the finalisation within the Final Project. The Final Project course is designed to provide students with a framework for understanding contemporary architecture and urban development issues and with the ability to critically and thoughtfully apply appropriate concepts through comprehensive architectural design and innovative approaches to technological issues.
Master Final Project at Module AE deals with research and design concerning complex architectural, technological and structural problems, such as large-span structures, use of structural form in architectural expression, potentials of new technologies and a multidisciplinary approach in the field of architectural construction.
