This design studio deals with the problem of planning and design in the context of spaces with special natural values, predominantly related to rural and suburban areas, poorly built or undeveloped. Based on the socio-spatial analysis, the students produce a regulation plan for the large area and develop urban design solutions for specific locations.
Based on ecological, cultural, social and economic sustainability, the theoretical part covers the importance of morphological, climatic, environmental, construction-related, economic and other features. The studio assignment includes field research and development of an urban design that reflects the natural environment and local needs, interests, potentials and limitations. Natural environments used for this purpose are areas with distinct natural features, such as national parks, nature parks, etc. These environments require a specific approach, defining the concept and understanding the limitations and knowledge accumulated in related disciplines.
