NEW TOPOGRAPHIES: CULTURE OF THE URBAN FRAGMENT
Within the program of a large-scale exhibition space, students will develop knowledge and understanding of architecture through a precisely themed methodology of creative interpretation, which this semester is placed in the domain of architecture as a created, constructed, or new topography. The course covers the areas of architectural design, architectural theory, multidisciplinary research of topography and morphology, as well as the theory and aesthetics of form. Theoretical classes deal with the architecture and typology of fair and exhibition spaces under the current conditions of climate and energy sustainability. On the other hand, architecture is considered in terms of the technological possibilities of modern fabrication, new transport systems, media, materials, and robotics. The presentations aim to acquaint students with some of the various currents in modern architecture, thus expanding their knowledge, methods, and approaches in the conceptualization and individualization of the architectural project within the concept of a techno-humanistic city. Practical classes evolve through research and experiments, relying on available software solutions, but also the intuitive application and synthesis of existing technological analytical tools.
