The topic of the work raises the question of how a town in southern Serbia can rejuvenate itself in accordance with local traditions, routines, and customs in the most fitting way.
The facility is located on the Vlasina River, near the dam in Vlasotince. The main part consists of two buildings (cultural/visitor center and business center) positioned on opposite shores, with a pedestrian bridge serving as a connection between them. The secondary part consists of the waterfront, designed as a promenade composed of cascading fragments (a flood area).
Some of the project goals are:
– Revitalizing the waterfront and enhancing the location’s attractiveness.
– Improving the infrastructure.
– Introducing a new content possibility in two directions:
– A tourist-visitor center with a cultural character.
– A business-hospitality center aimed at attracting foreign and domestic companies that could have their representation in southern Serbia for a certain period of time. This includes increasing the number of visitors by introducing the mentioned content that provides new opportunities for recreation, hedonism, and events.
– Exploring waterfront architecture, its functions, and practices in architecture.
