Work in Studio M03A is set: 1) in the theoretical segment, as a methodologically specific, content-based autonomous research based on contemporary teaching models and aimed at developing different interests and preferences among architecture students; 2) in the practical segment, the work is designed as a complex recognition of architectural concepts, principles and theories and their appropriate application, adequate for the specific and complex programs for current social context. The course is oriented towards theoretical abstraction and practical presentation of the basic elements and relationships in defining the concept design. Understanding the architectural space as a synthesis of conceptual ideas develops the critical thinking, research skills, intellectual integrity, professional knowledge, and skills necessary to understand users’ needs and regulations. So, this course represents a link between the theoretical and more complex practical application of knowledge throughout specific fields of culture, communities and the re-activation of spaces. The objectives of this design studio are reflected in intention to learn how to analyse a particular cultural context at different spatial levels, to develop the ability to understand the elements and essence of the local identity and the placemaking process, as well as to introduce students how to implement recognised elements into projects.
