ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS – COMMERCIAL FACILITY
The aim of the course is for students to get to know and research the concept of energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable buildings through the design process. The focus is on the functional solution of the building, as well as the materialization of the building envelope, which provides satisfactory comfort to the building’s occupants. The accent is on employing creativity in the research of the functional and design performances and technical solutions of energy-efficient structures that result in avant-garde solutions. In this sense, the importance of the conception and elaboration of architectural details of facades and roofs and the development of models at different levels of the project, with the use of appropriate software, is especially highlighted. In order to overcome these problems, it is necessary to attend the seminar entitled: Contemporary facades and roofs. Theoretical classes are part of the seminar and students are introduced to the concepts and technical solutions of envelopes – facades and roofs in the function of energy gains (production of heat and electricity), control of daylight and direct sunlight and natural ventilation, i.e., the use of renewable energy sources, with the goal of reducing the building’s energy needs and thus environmental pollution. Practical classes include designing buildings in the city zone, which initiates the introduction of representative architectural solutions not only in terms of content but also with respect to the methods of their materialization, especially the envelopes, whose materialization as energy-efficient structures, in addition to achieving a high level of comfort in the building, aims to reduce pollution in the urban zone, which further highlights the importance of designing such structures in the urban fabric.
