HOUSE OF E-BOOK
The aim of the assignment is to develop the ability to critically consider the relationship between programmatic requirements, the specificity of the location, technical and technological systems, and the formulation of the architectural concept of a modern library. The Book House: represents a new library, a center for the presentation of reading culture (in a broader sense) based on the principles of green architecture. Through the analysis of generative influencing factors, students examine the relationship between program, technology, and form, creating an autochthonous architectural expression. A particular focus of the project is on the concept of the building envelope and the elaboration of its spatial or energy characteristics. The modern concept of library spaces represents a specific kind of research of cultural, material, and environmental-energy relations with the aim of creating a communication and education center. During the work on the project, students learn about the current theoretical settings of green architecture and its relations to contemporary tendencies in the materialization of buildings. The starting point for the work is the analysis of the given program and its relationship to the generative aspects of cultural, technical, technological, and energy origin. By researching a specific theme of an object, students review the complexity of the impacts that can often be resolved by applying high-tech solutions and systems. The practical part of the work implies the individual formation of specific spatial-functional frameworks within the given program, which are then interpreted at the conceptual level or elaborated in more detail at the level of the conceptual design. By creating spatial programmatic models, using appropriate simulations, and the graphical analysis of relevant relationships, the initial settings are evaluated and the solution is synthesized. The elaboration also checks the basic energy-ecological relations of the building towards the immediate environment.
